KAZUKI TAKAMATSU
I remember seeing this dude's art a while back, but couldn't figure out who it was. I was flipping through May's issue of HI-FRUCTOSE, and I saw this guy's piece again. His name is Kazuki Takamatsu. I thought these were digital pieces, but they are actually gouache paintings. How crazy is that!! Here's the link to check out more of his stuff. http://kazukitakamatsu.web.fc2.com/index.html

No Love For the Mouse?
I love love love vinyl or resin art. It's like a living cartoon. But in Jiri Geller's case, a dead cartoon. He must've been traumatized as a kid at Disneyland or something. But in any case, I love love love this style of art. http://www.jirigeller.com/index.html
Mas Aled Lewis
I wanted to include this too because it was something we talked about and tried doing in class last week. Its crazy when you look at the zoomed in image. The entire image is made up of numbers, symbols and letters.
Aled Lewis
Aled Lewis' illustrations are so flippin' funny. You could live under a rock and still find the humor in these samples. My favorite one here is the big foam-man finding his foam hand in the stadium crowd. I love anything Star Wars, so I'm being biased by saying the Spock & Vader picture is one of my favorites too.

Sara Frost
I thought this was interesting. I love the use of everyday things as a form of art. Here are pics of her work. One is a close up of this huge wall of computer keyboard buttons. The other is a wall of everyday things that are close in color tone. http://www.sarahfrost.info/

Hilary Pecis
Also in the same JUXTAPOZ magazine, check out Hilary Pecis. Web address is easy enough, www.hilarypecis.com. Her works look very similar to what we've done in class already.
Eric Yahnker
It's been a while, but I picked up the May issue of JUXTAPOZ, and one of the featured artists in this issue is Eric Yahnker. His illustrations are done with colored pencils on paper, charcoal/ graphite on paper, and a combination of all three. My favorite one is entitled The Big Con-onization (Mutha from Calcutta). Charcoal & graphite on paper 97"x72", 2010. just go to ericyahnker.com to see his other works.

hybrid project: OCTOKITTY
This is my hybrid creature, octokitty. Not sure if my Japanese characters are accurate, but that's what I pulled off of google translate. I had a harder time with Adobe Illustrator than Photoshop, but I think I like it better. I know I know, apples and oranges.
Song Project
I totally forgot to post my photoshop projects. DUH! Here's my "song" project. Even though we already saw everyone's works. Awesome work by the way guys!!
Jimmy Turrell
Hey gals and guys!! Hope everyone is having a great spring break, or at least a good one. I was just browsing the internet trying to get some ideas and inspiration, and stumbled on this picture. I think its awesome and something I'd like the try. The artist is Jimmy Turrell. Just go to jimmyturrell.com, easy enough.

8-Bits
I'm gonna age myself and say that I grew up playing the first Nintendo in the 80's. Long story short, I came across these two art works inspired by the classic Nintendo characters, Mario and Link. Mario & Link are in their 8-bit form, but the artist painted them in a surreal way. I'll put the link below, check it out!!
On a side note, for those with iPhones, check out "instagram" from the APP store. I'm not sure if the ANDROID phones have it, but see if you do. What it does is it takes a photo from your phone and alters the effects. So you can take a boring normal picture and play with the colors, turn it into a black&white photo, etc etc.

7.0
I'm using a much older version of photoshop with our first assignment, 7.0 to be exact. Either I've forgotten what we learned in class or this PC version is somewhat different. I am still able to do the basics, adjust the hue/saturation and level. But when it came down to copy/paste after selecting the subject, it was driving me nuts. I was able to do it, but I had to do it using the "original" layer. Is anyone else using an older PC version? If so, were you able to do it a different way without messing with the original layer?
Side note, GO LAKERS!!!

#3 PROCESS IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN OUTCOME
"When the outcome drives the process we will only ever go to where we’ve already been. If process drives outcome we may not know where we’re going, but we will know we want to be there."
The second I came across #3 on Bruce Mau's list, I knew this is what I have been lacking. Oh don't get me wrong, there were countless others that I need to focus on, but #3 spoke to me the most. So many times have I started working on something, but was more concerned about the end result. I never once stopped to think about the process. Yes there is a process, but I never stopped to really let it sink in. The only time I actually slowed down to absorb the process was this road trip I had gone on where I stopped at random points along the way. I had a vague destination, but no real plan on how to get there. Just winged it. Now if I can only apply that to my art work.

Aliens & Art?
I'm watching this program on the history channel called "Ancient Aliens: The Series". In a nut shell, aliens have come down to earth thousands of years ago and the theory is that they shaped our ancient civilizations. So they're showing all these images of ancient sculptures, architecture and huge designs that can only be made out if you were high up above. They're talking about this book "Chariots of the Gods", by Erich Von Daniken, and how it influenced a lot of people. Has anyone read it? If so, let me know what you thought of it. It sounds like something that would be helpful or at least be an interesting read.
